Nope

I got a non removable fiberglass cast. Doc said that particular bone needs more protection, but didn't really explain how a removable one offers less, other than the obvious *lack* of protection from not wearing it at all.

Fine

At least it's not as bulky as the splint. Meanwhile, it stays on for a month.  Now since Dec 25 is a holiday, and they said the doctor has the rest of the week off, they tried to schedule the cast removal for Dec 30. I convinced them to pull it up to the 23rd instead.

I am not waking up Christmas morning in a cast.

Stitch free

 Guess what

The stitches come out and I lose this ugly splint. I'm going from the splint to a cast, but since I've never been in a cast before I don't know what to expect, but I'm hopeful that it's at least not bulky.

I'll let you know.

Shut in

My Google location history looks like a guy that lost his phone somewhere in his house and gave up. I'm living on the hope that when these stitches come out of my wrist I'll be able to at least drive again.

This is how you starve an extrovert.

What more?

I went back to the doctor on Wednesday because my wrist wasn't getting better - it was getting worse. Some fresh x-rays at different angles revealed that there was in fact a broken bone in there, and it wasn't going to get better on its own. Two days later I was in the hospital, first thing in the morning for surgery.

Scaphoid break. They had to dig in there, but them back together, then screw it in place. It took two days before I could really move my arm fully, and the splint stops me from doing just about anything with my dominant hand.

Typing is tricky, but here I am.

I am once again unable to drive or do anything that would involve both arms. I'm out of work until the 26th - and that's right before Thanksgiving anyway. I can't even use a mouse, or hold a game controller. I'm stuck with passive entertainment.

That and I can't bend my wrist at all. I cannot express how much I hate this splint. Not looking forward to the cast I get when the stitches come out.

Sequelitis

We're living in an age where a 30 - 40 year old movie will get dusted off and plied for a sequel. The Indiana Jones movies were over, until they weren't. Top Gun got one. But I'm going to complain about this.

Now, whenever one of these 30 year removed sequels comes around, and I actually let myself watch it, the wife and I will watch the first movie one day, then the new one a day or so later. It helps because the original is fresh in our minds so we can see whatever callbacks and OG cast members carry over.

It's not even a spoiler to say there is exactly one callback to the original movie. One. No cast members, just Dorothy V sitting in a trailer that someone calls old in the first five minutes of the movie, and that's it. No more. You can skip the original and you won't be lost. The only thing they have in common is that they chase tornadoes.

I realize that a director wants to make it their own, but all they did was make a movie about tornado chasers and slap the old title on it, and slather it with loud country music.
